So I decided to start a blog and will see how long I continue it. I've never done a diary and now I kind of wish I had all these years. But oh well.
It's early afternoon - already 1 pm! I took a nice long walk through town this morning at 8 am when it was fairly cool out - read a few chapters in the next book on my pile - Expresso Shot by Cleo Coyle while I drank a cup of Irish Breakfast Tea, and now have the laundry going. I've got lots of yard work to do - all the Oriental lilies are past their prime and need to be trimmed up. But I'm kind of sore so I may just put that off until next weekend - this past Thursday son #3 and I drove up to Lafayette to help son #1 and son #2 move. So it was a lot of packing up and driving over and unpacking..repeat process. I actually feel BETTER than I thought I might - but that doesn't mean I'm ready to go out and dig in the dirt for 5 hours. Anyway - Sam (my favorite third son) and I got back yesterday afternoon.
Dan had been working in the yard all weekend - and had something to show me - paper wasps had built a fine home for themselves over on the shed. Unfortunately Dan discovered the nest when he was attacked and stung by a few of them for getting too close to aforementioned shed. Let's see if i can attach a photo here.
oh well, it's up there. that'll do.
anyway - altho we have a nice relationship with all the bees and such that live in our yard, those wasps evidently were not as as eager for a relationship with us, so he bought some spray to kill all the violent little creatures = he checked this morning, and they're still there! must be hardy wasps.
we've got lots of hummingbirds in the yard this season - coming in for the nectar from the lilies, the cone flowers, the lipstick plant, so I've got my digital camera set up on a tripod aimed at the hummer feeder I bought last week. I WANT a great Hummer picture!
well, outside I go!
